July 7th, 2018 Clayton and Sydney became HUSBAND and WIFE! I can't believe I got to be a part of this truly magical, summer day of love. I think I have a soft spot for this couple because I see so much of my own relationship in them. Their wedding day only proved to me further that they are truly, a unique and special couple.
Sydney and I met in a random but strategic yoga class lol and by strategic I mean God had placed Sydney in my life for a reason. We clicked via email and had SO much fun on their engagement session. I loved helping them prepare for their wedding and pouring into the day myself. This was a wedding day that I prayed over, invested my time in, and was looking forward to just as much as they were! Ok, maybe not "just as much" but it had been a big deal on my calendar for awhile. I think I teared up about 3 or 4 times during the day because I was so encouraged by the marriage they were creating. Their bridal party was a BLAST and their families were incredibly sweet and welcoming. Anyone and everyone who was a part of this day had a spirit of pure joy for this couple. Their ceremony was perfect and full of the right intentions. The toasts were tender, raw, and full of love. The dance floor never died down and was fueled by smiles the whole night.
I could go on for days about how great their wedding day was and how much I admire the love they have for one another. But I think what will always stick out the most to me is their love for Jesus. When I asked Sydney many months ago what she loved most about Clayton, she said without ANY hesitation, that she loved his love for Jesus more than her. YOU GUYS. Let that just settle over you for a moment. That right there is a foundation I want a relationship built on. Their entire wedding day was intentionally planned around their faith and I felt it at every turn. When I showed up at the Marquette Cottage to begin shooting, Syd was as calm as a cucumber and honestly I didn't expect anything else. She had prepared her heart for that day long before it had arrived. There was a spirit of peace and genuine joy over the whole place and I couldn't believe it was something I had an opportunity to lean into.
Clayton and Sydney, I thank you both for bringing me along on your journey and trusting me with your memories.
