This is just a personal opinion but I feel like I'm becoming the queen of rainy wedding days and I'm TOTALLY OKAY WITH THAT!!! I love the opportunity to show my brides that their day is perfect regardless of the weather. Nothing can take away from your wedding day, not even mother nature!
Quick PSA to any brides-to-be, choose a photographer who can adapt, has experience and has back up plans. This is only my 3rd full wedding season but I've shot enough less than ideal weather weddings to have a list a mile long of alternative options when needed. This can make or break a day as timelines are tight and you can't remake a wedding day. Because here in the midwest we can't rely on the weather man, can I get an Amen?!
For Ali and Greg it was literally a full on thunder storm before, during and after their ceremony. Rain still falling ever so peacefully on this spring Saturday for their wedding party photos as well. But equipped with my bright yellow rain jacket, we conquered the day! How? Because of communication and experience! Ali and I were back and forth all week with making the best Plan B's which turned out to be our Plan A's. We sought shelter and took some gorgeous photos but my favorite part was that Greg and Ali we're able to ENJOY their wedding day because of their plans. I never stopped shooting but when we stopped at the Rockhill Grille they could actually take a break from smiling at me! I love reminding couples how important it is to have slow-down time during their day. Whether that means making sure we get time for sun set photos after dinner or planning a fun stop with your bridal party to all enjoy a drink somewhere awesome in Kansas City. Whatever it looks like I promise you, you will not regret this time but you'll treasure it.
Greg and Ali planned the perfect wedding day, no doubt. But more importantly they've become dear friends. These two have a bond I respect so much and I can't wait to see more of. They're genuine, kind, relaxed, fun-spirited, authentic people, the kinds of people I want to surround myself with! Their families had a huge impact on me as they welcomed me in from the first moment we met, up until the moment I left. Ali's dad gave me the biggest hug I've ever received from a Father of the Bride, and I know it's only because he was beaming with pride for his baby girl. This wedding day was a long time coming, like many of my couples. But this one, I'll be holding onto a little longer.
Congrats Ali and Greg, welcome to the best club ever!
