I don't know about you, but personally, I hope micro-weddings are here to stay! Nikki and Jarrod came to me through their awesomely accommodating venue, Magnolia Venue & Urban Garden. During the darker and uncertain days of Covid, the team at Magnolia rose to the occasion by creating some of the only micro-wedding and elopement options here in Kansas City. By providing the space, decor, coordination, florals, etc. this space went above and beyond to assist the needs of many struggling couples who just wanted to get married.
What I'm most proud of when remembering this beautifully quaint summer wedding day is what we were able to create in only roughly four hours of time. These photos represent to me that we don't always need all the glitz and glam if the situation doesn't allow for it or it simply isn't your style. Wedding days should not have to fit into a specific box of guidelines in order to be valued as real or important. Every wedding day, no matter how big or small should be met with the same intentionality, preparation, creativity, and care. Even though I had never met this couple in person prior to their wedding day, they had never had an engagement session or portraits taken together before, they still rocked it! Which in my opinion goes to prove that you don't need an exorbitant amount of time nor a crazy scenic backdrop, you just need a true professional who is confident enough in their craft to work with all lighting scenarios, time restraints, and most importantly is there to authentically document your love.
