Some call the mid-west "Fly Over Country" but those of us who call it home, know it's nothing you want to just fly over. The mid-west is home to all four beautifully unique seasons, including the glory of fall. Yes, every year Mother Nature smiles upon us and paints every tree a magical array of yellows, reds, and oranges but we never know how long it will last. Luckily for Austin and Carly, they traveled to Kansas City for the peak of its autumn beauty.
As a wedding and engagement photographer located in Kansas City, I still don't think I've photographed as beautiful a display of fall than this session right here. Our weather was perfect, the sunset was stunning, and this absolutely couple glowed the entire time.

Something Austin and Carly did spot-on was choosing the right outfits. When planning my engagement sessions with couples I love to help curate their perfect looks. I often suggest choosing outfits that are neutral in color but compliment the season, avoiding loud prints and patterns, wearing comfortable shoes, bringing layers, and choosing one look that makes you both feel like a million bucks. Layers allow for outfit variations without having to completely change. Comfortable shoes are a must because much of our time spent together involves walking, jogging, dancing etc. Loud prints can distract from the photo and erase the timelessness that my photos try to achieve. Lastly choosing one "dressy" outfit that makes you feel your best helps to mentally enforce "this is a special occasion worth celebrating". I mean how often do you really get your photo taken anyways? Might as well LIVE IT UP! Carly did exactly this with her second look, a gorgeous red dress and a classy pair of black heels. Austin looked just as dapper in his navy suit and dress shoes. Their outfit choices elevated the romantic feel of their downtown sunset photos and made for more dramatic imagery. These two popped against all the downtown backdrops Kansas City had to offer because their outfits are complement each scene. Each photo you are immediately drawn to their connection and emotions. No distractions, no hesitations, just love.
I cannot wait to celebrate with Austin and Carly as they say I Do, this fall in Omaha Nebraska!
