She's Been Scooped Up! Summer Engagement Photos at Betty Raes Ice Cream Shop and Loose Park

I'm a huge believer that your engagement photo session should reflect the unique qualities of you and your partner. The photos should serve as beautiful images that will make for incredible save the dates, make mom happy and proud and will make for beautiful prints to hang in your home but while also simultaneously being fun and truly represent your relationship. With that, I can confidently say Lauren and Riley's engagement session this summer hits all those notes just right!

We started in their formal summer outfits in the beautiful Rose Garden located at Loose Park downtown Kansas City. This location is perfect for capturing some of those timelessly romantic images. It suits lots of looks and allows for tons of backdrops for your photos. Its pathways, pillars, and archways make for some stunning architectural features and allow for natural posing and walking amongst the roses. This location is also excellent when planning on involving your four-legged friends. Riley and Lauren brought along their pup, Winston, and a friend as his handler for some family of three photos, and they truly do not disappoint! Loose Park has so much to offer for photo sessions, I'm always more inspired by that place than I was the time before. I love shooting in the Rose Garden, near the duck pond, on the grassy hills, by the succulent garden, the open fields, the group of cedar trees, the sculpture garden, on the romantic wood bridge (need I goooooo oooooonnn?). It's the best one-stop-shop nature photo location in Kansas City and almost always has something for everyone no matter the season.

When planning location number two I suggested Betty Raes Ice Cream shop in Waldo for something casual and fun and I'm SO glad the couple went with my vision. These ice cream photos are some of the CUTEST summer engagement photos ever! Having a prop like a cone of ice cream allows for more types of fun poses and naturally gives your something to do with your hands. It also for sure brought out both Riley and Lauren's playful sides which makes for such authentic photos. I hope more and more couples choose unique locations for their engagement sessions like ice cream shops, taco stands, breweries, cocktail bars, and more. The options are endless, so make your session what you want it!
