Last spring I spent the most beautiful and windy wedding day with Alli and Price in downtown Kansas City, and let me tell you, this couple sure knows how to throw a party! The entire day was a perfect blend of modern sophistication and timeless elegance in its style and the perfect example of how candid photography meets editorial, and I was honored to capture every moment.
Wedding Timeline Breakdown - 11 Hours
My coverage began with detail images and getting ready moments of the couple at The Sheraton Hotel in the Crown Center district of Kansas City. The couple chose a photography package that included an engagement session, 11 hours of wedding day coverage, a second, shooter, and rehearsal dinner coverage. This amount of wedding day coverage allowed for a relaxed timeline with ample breaks between location changes and photo moments.
Price and Alli shared a private first look, followed by some portraits around the hotel. We then relocated for wedding party portraits with iconic views of The Kauffman Center and coverage out of the wind. After all wedding party portraits were completed, we headed to their ceremony space for family first looks, family portraits, and, of course, the moment they said I Do. The entire day, I couldn't help but notice the joy and excitement in the air. I'm personally so proud of this gallery and how it's FULL of so many candid expressions, giddy moments, stolen glances, tender touches, and utter joy.
After the ceremony, we relocated to the modernly dynamic and transformative Gallery Event Space for the couple's reception. The venue was transformed into a stunning oasis of custom details, romantic lighting, and modern yet elegant attention to detail, including hanging floral installations, monogrammed seating charts and bars, beautiful complimenting stationery, and a show-stopping 5-tier wedding cake. I was in awe of the couple's impeccable taste and the team they chose to bring it all together.
Some of my most memorable moments from the Whitaker wedding were during the couple's reception. From Alli and Price sharing their first dance as husband and wife to the heartwarming toasts, this reception was the perfect foundation for the ultimate dance party. And party they did!! The couple's choice of a live band was an exceptional move for this venue. The space was perfect for guests to sprawl out, taking in the sunset on the balcony overlooking the Power and Light District, indulging in the various bar set-ups, boogying on the dance floor, or even enjoying some of their late-night snack offerings.
In the end, Alli and Price's wedding was a testament to everything I love about capturing timeless, classic, candid, and modern moments. This wedding is an excellent fusion of documentary and editorial photography. It was an honor to be a part of their special day, and I am grateful for the opportunity to tell their love story. Cheers to the happy couple and to many years of joy and love ahead!
