For this engagement session location breakdown post, I'm highlighting The Crossroads District and The Scout Statue near downtown Kansas City. For this casual summer engagement session with Trent and Jane, we started our session at The Scout! This engagement session location has unparalleled views of Kansas City, sitting high up on a hill that overlooks downtown. In addition to iconic views, The Scout has ample green space, wildflowers, nearby tennis courts, and even a skate park! The one less desirable thing I always point out to couples when choosing this location is the overall safety of the location. From time to time this can be a popular spot for teens and others to "hang out" and "socialize". Privacy is not guaranteed and time of day should always be considered when choosing The Scout. On the whole, I enjoy shooting at this location for engagement photo sessions for its great lighting options, views of Kansas City, and proximity to other secondary locations.
Secondary locations like parking garage rooftops in The Crossroads! Parking garage rooftops make for such a great city feel for your engagement photos. You can dress this location up or down depending on your overall vibe and desire from the images. Jane and Trent dressed up their rooftop photos with a button-down and jeans for Trent and a bold, vibrant, pink dress for Jane. We soaked in the setting summer sun over the buildings of the Crossroads and their session turned out to be another favorite from the season!
